Group Definitions
Certified to AMS S-13165-C and SAE J442 including SAE J442 PARA 6.3 (Surface
Carbon)
All Hope Supply, Inc. almen strips meet these Group I Premium almen strip
group definitions:
Hope Supply, Inc. almen strips meet the requirements of SAE J442. Strips are
inspected for score marks, scratches, nicks, burrs, pits and rust. All of our
almen strips are covered with a light coat of oil to protect the almen strips
from rust and other defects. Dated Certificates of Conformance, by steel heat,
customer order number and date of shipment are supplied with each shipment of
almen strips, at no additional cost.
Order quantities of "A" and "N" strips in excess of 1,000 are bulk packed
in boxes of 1,000. Order quantities of "C" strips in excess of 500 are bulk
packed in boxes of 500. For lesser quantities, "A" and
"N" strips are packed in steel heat identified cartons or zip-lock bags of (50) each and "C" strips in cartons or bags of (25) each.
Almen strip flatness is rigidly process controlled using statistical methods.
Almen strips are held to SAE J442 flatness limits of +/- .001" within +/- 3
standard deviations, except for Special Grade I-S which are held to +/-
.0005" flatness (as described below).
The above conditions meet and exceed traditional definitions of Group I
Premium, Group II standard and Group III Bulk Grade Almen Strips.
Group I-S Special Grade
These meet the requirements of Aerospace Materials Specifications AMS 2432
and are inspected to +/- .0005" flatness.
